Composer and sound artist, moving between electronic music, electroacoustic music and sound art.
Loljud is the artistic name of Malmö-based Lotta Fahlén. Compared to Kate Bush, she is recognised for a cross-artistic and unpredictable approach to electronic music. Like a collector of sounds she sifts the world with a net: water drops, radio static and phone alarms get caught in it.
She works with field recordings, live electronics, spatial and multichannel sound. She has performed at Malmöfestivalen, Stockholm Fringe Festival and Wisdome Malmö, and in Copenhagen, Reykjavik and Tokyo.

Loljud is the artistic name of Lotta Fahlén, a composer and sound artist based in Malmö. Her work moves between electronic music, electroacoustic music and sound art – from albums and club stages to multichannel installations and performing arts.
Compared to Kate Bush, Loljud is recognised for a cross-artistic and unpredictable approach to electronic music. Like a collector of sounds she sifts the world with a net: water drops, radio static and phone alarms get caught in it. Noise – literally hidden in her name – is not a surprise in the production but a conceptual building block that carries the story forward. She works with field recordings, live electronics, spatial and multichannel sound.
Each live show is staged as a world of its own, where music, visuals and movement are shaped together. She has performed at Malmöfestivalen, Stockholm Fringe Festival and Extreme Chill in Reykjavik, in the dome of Wisdome Malmö, and in Copenhagen and Tokyo. She has also opened for artists such as Jenny Hval and How To Dress Well.
Loljud's debut album The Phases (2020) was released as three EPs, digitally and as a complete album on vinyl. She is now working on her second album, The Eons, whose first part, The Hadean Eon, is out now. She is also developing the long-term project Matrescence – A Rite of Passage, a performance and sound work exploring the transformation of becoming a mother through woven sound sculptures and spatial sound.
Outside of Loljud, Lotta is co-artistic director of the performance group Absurdum Temporary Art together with Lisa Mårtensson, creating cross-disciplinary, often immersive stage works and interactive sound pieces. Together with Miranda Magdalena, she forms the duo Lilium. She is also a member of XYZ Sound Collective, an international collective for spatial sound and electroacoustic art, based in Copenhagen.
Her residencies include Konstnärsnämnden's composer residency in Berlin, Inter Arts Center in Malmö and Kulturværftet in Helsingør. She has taught electronic music production at Malmö Academy of Music and in Vem kan bli producent? – a network and programme for women and trans people in music production.
